Organizing Events in New York, the Sequel - Part 3: Fun Activities

Organizing Events in New York, the Sequel - Part 3: Fun Activities

Are you organizing an event in New York? Our editors give tips for nice activities in the city that you can combine with your event.

In the previous articles of this trilogy, we already gave you the dos and don'ts for a successful event in the Big Apple, and we showed you the most hip event locations in New York. In this last part, you get to know a few fun activities.

Hip city rides

Take a bus. Instead of taking the popular double-decker 'hop on hop off', you had better take 'The Ride'. On this bus, you sit sideways, so that you always have a good view. If you're with a large group, you can completely customize the tour.

Take a boat. A boat ride around the city is always amazing. The yacht 'Manhattan' has a great service, captain and catering. You can take part in the normal tour or make a completely customized tour.

Go by bike. Rolling Orange is a Dutch company that organizes bike rides through the city. You take a Dutch roadster and ride it through the trendy city. Take a chopper. Little time and a big budget? Take a chopper.

Behind the scenes

Completely turn New York activities upside-down. You can visit a Broadway show and have a meet and greet with the cast. Or you can visit the kitchen of your favourite restaurant and look at your meal with the eyes of the chef. Personal shopping or a personalized fashion tour, visiting private residences of art collectors, everything is possible in the city that never sleeps.

Prancing around in Central Park

Central Park remains a popular site. Taking a ride in a horse-carriage, in the rickshaw or on a bike, taking a boat ride from The Boathouse Restaurant, taking a bite and a drink in the iconical Tavern on the Green. These are classics that always do the tricks. And in summertime: Shakespeare in the park. Buy a ticket for a play with great actors such as Al Pacino, John Lithgow, etc.

Eating out with New Yorkers

New York has a mishmash of cuisines. Visit the hotspots such as Eataly, Chelsea Market, Madison Square and eat together with the New Yorkers in the many stalls and restaurants. Watch out though: during lunchtime, it can be very busy!

Private excursions in museums

New York has many beautiful museums. Organize a private excursion outside of opening hours and conclude it with a reception in the event hall. You can find spaces like this in nearly every museum.

Wine-tasting and eating out of town

You can please wine lovers by taking a wine tour in the North and South Forks of Long Island. In Stone Barns, at a 45-minute drive from the city, you'll find Blue Hill, a restaurant with a Michelin-star. The restaurant has its own farm, which is an excellent location for team-building activities. You can stay in the fine suites or in the charming bed & breakfast accommodations nearby.

This article is part of a series: Organizing events in New York, the sequel. In part 2 we give you tips about trendy event locations. In part 1 you can read about the dos and don'ts for when you're organizing events in New York.
