In the second half of the summer, according to Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo (Open Vld), it should be possible to organize several larger festivals again. The prime minister was in contact with, among others, the festival organizers of Tomorrowland over the past weekend.
The Consultation Committee will discuss the exact details and determine the conditions on Tuesday. It is thought to grant access on the basis of the European 'green certificate'. Prime Minister De Croo discussed the development of that European vaccination passport with his European colleagues during the European Council this weekend.
Those who are not yet fully protected by vaccination should undergo rapid testing every day and access would be limited to European visitors (residents of the European Economic Area + the United Kingdom). Also, access would only be possible with pre-purchased tickets to enable tracing.
Prime Minister De Croo is convinced that it must be possible to organize this properly and safely. By August, all adults in our country had the chance to get vaccinated. Moreover, in our country we have a great deal of expertise in the events and festival sector. These are professionals who are among the best in the world.

In de tweede helft van de zomer moet het volgens Belgisch premier Alexander De Croo (Open Vld) mogelijk zijn om opnieuw enkele grotere festivals te organiseren. De premier had daarover het voorbije weekend een contact met onder meer de festivalorganisatoren van Tomorrowland.
Het Overlegcomité zal dinsdag de precieze details bespreken en de voorwaarden vastleggen. Daarbij wordt er gedacht om toegang te geven op basis van het Europese 'green certificate'. Premier De Croo besprak de uitwerking van dat Europees vaccinatiepaspoort dit weekend nog met zijn Europese collega’s tijdens de Europese Raad.
Wie nog niet volledig beschermd is door vaccinatie zou zich elke dag moeten laten sneltesten en de toegang zou beperkt worden tot Europese bezoekers (inwoners van de Europese Economische Ruimte + het Verenigd Koninkrijk). Toegang zou ook enkel mogelijk zijn met vooraf gekochte tickets om tracing mogelijk te maken.
Premier De Croo is ervan overtuigd dat het mogelijk moet zijn dit goed en veilig te organiseren. Tegen augustus hebben alle volwassenen in ons land de kans gehad om zich te laten vaccineren. Bovendien hebben we in ons land ontzettend veel expertise in de evenementen- en festivalsector. Het gaat om professionals die tot de wereldtop behoren.
