La Butte aux Bois

A hundred years ago, a Belgian nobleman came across a remarkable hill in the middle of the forests of Lanaken. He was a hunter and so impressed by the remote, peaceful location that he bought the land to build a beautiful house. In the 1980s this estate became hotel 'La Butte aux Bois'.

Nowadays you will find the five-star superior hotel La Butte aux Bois directly on the edge of the Hoge Kempen National Park. Surrounded by nature, the lush and leafy estate covers no less than 12 hectares and offers a special habitat for - among other things - wild boars and deer. The adjacent park is home to robins, wild ducks, geese and various birds of prey.

Guests can find peace in romantically decorated rooms or can experience the atmosphere of sustainable eco-design during a stay. There is an additional option for relaxation at the Shiseido Institute, which offers a wide choice of massages and different treatments, a wellness area with sun terrace, sauna, hammam and an indoor swimming pool. Guests have access to our state-of-the-art gym for a daily workout, take yoga classes or test their fitness at a boot camp. The entrance to the Hoge Kempen National Park is less than 100 meters from the hotel lobby and offers numerous hiking opportunities that are among the best in Europe. Regular cycling, e-bikes and mountain bikes are available for those seeking the beautiful countryside.

Last but not least, La Butte aux Bois has evolved into a gastronomic destination. There is the Michelin restaurant with two stars: restaurant Ralf Berendsen, as well as the cozy bistrôt Le Ciel and bar Papillon.
