Stuck youth: from playing games to making games
How do you help young people who have reached a dead end to get a job again? Young people who sit at home all day playing games. Lonely, depressed, without self-confidence. What happens if you don't let these young people play games, but let them make games themselves? We believe in these young people and we believe that we can help them get back on their feet!
Our experience as youth workers: working together gives a boost!
We are Wouter and Esther and have organized large national games and events together with young people as youth workers for the past 10 years. We discovered that surprisingly many young people who participated as volunteers had a backpack and learned that participating gave them a boost. The foundation of Breakout Bandits was laid in this youth work.
Our goal: making social impact
We are a social enterprise whose primary goal is to make a social impact. Making a profit is a secondary goal. We want to offer young people a life-changing experience: They work on new skills by creating games. They learn about their qualities and gain more self-confidence through personal guidance. They build a network of young people who look out for each other, which ensures less loneliness and better mental health. All of this contributes to our goal: We give young people a perspective to take the next step in their lives.
- Problem: A growing number of young people experience psychological complaints, stress and loneliness. Some of them are stuck at home.
- Approach: Together with young people we create impactful team building games, in a homely atmosphere, without stress.
- Target group: Young people and young adults aged 18 to 35 with a creative mindset who have become stuck in society.
- Guidance: We offer substantive guidance, personal guidance and build a community that looks after each other.
Our team building games
- Our games excite and connect . We love to excite people and are happy when players feel more connected to each other during our games. As far as we are concerned, this can go a layer deeper than you might normally be used to with team building.
- All games are personalized . We personalize all our games per customer. Players fill out a questionnaire in advance and we process those answers in the game. This way, each customer gets a unique, customized team building game.
- Playable anywhere in the world. The game concepts we develop can be characterized as location based team building games. The players have to go outside to play the game. With every step they take with their phone, a next step in the game is activated.
