Paradiso is a pop venue and entertainment venue at the Weteringschans, near the Leidseplein, in Amsterdam. Paradiso is mainly known as a pop venue; many famous and less well-known names have performed here since its foundation in March 1968. The main hall of Paradiso has a capacity of 1,500 visitors. There is another small hall on the first floor and regular performances take place in the basement. In addition to the building on the Weteringschans, Paradiso has a concert hall in the Tolhuistuin and programs at various other locations in the city, such as Bitterzoet, People's Place, Vondelkerk, the Zonnehuis and many other locations. Paradiso presents more than 1000 programs for more than 600,000 visitors every year. In addition to concerts, the program also includes lectures, literary programs, art exhibitions, dance performances and classical music. Paradiso also hosts several festivals every year, including London Calling, 7Layers (in collaboration with Dotan), Sonic Acts Festival and Summer Dance Forever. Paradiso is located in a former building of the Free Municipality.
