Hotel Elisabeth is a former hospital dating back to the interwar period. During the Second World War, a V bomb caused enormous havoc and left three nurses, three patients and three workers dead. The St. Elisabeth Hospital closed its doors definitively on December 14, 2003 and the building, on the corner of Goswin de Stassart and Van Hoeystraat, was left behind as a silent witness. After impactful works, the doors opened for the first time in April 2014. "We went to great lengths to preserve the soul of the building. It is therefore a renovation with respect for the existing architecture. For example, the old stairs and large pieces are of the facade architecture has been preserved. The 'Circle of Energy' is a work of art by the Dutch artist Jan Van Munster that was placed there as a result of a Contour Art Biennale. Hotel Elisabeth has 62 stylish rooms and there are 4 different room types: Classic Room / Deluxe room / Triple room and Executive room. For the design of the rooms, sustainable and warm materials such as planks / parquet floors have been deliberately used. There are spacious walk-in showers and all rooms have a beautiful and spacious light and are equipped with every comfort. The breakfast room, with full-width windows that can be slid open, is adjacent to a beautiful olive tree terrace. Whoever climbs the terrace-wide stairs on the other side of the terrace will arrive at the swimming pool and adjacent wellness area under construction. There is a large meeting room on the ground floor and a rooftop meeting room with adjoining roof terrace. This meeting room amazes everyone with its phenomenally beautiful view over the old city. Hotel Elisabeth wants to distinguish itself not only by its architecture, but also by its brand experience and approach: a professional service, but in a particularly customer-friendly and absolutely casual way. It is the reason why the number of business people choosing Hotel Elisabeth as their favorite spot is steadily increasing. "Everything goes so smoothly here and there is room for a smile and self-perspective, that's just great." The positioning of this hotel is no stranger to this: the baseline that accompanies the logo is: Life's short. Start smiling. In various places in the hotel there are quotes that endorse this and generate a smile. The hotel is not afraid to put itself in perspective, as said. In the elevator, which is going quite slowly, hangs a frame that reads: "We apologize for the speed. Next time we'll take the sports version." Endorsed with the logo and baseline. But there is more with which Elisabeth wants to distinguish herself. The hotel recently organized a movie night on the roof terrace together with Het Filmhuis van Mechelen. Lost in translation. The start of a series of activities with which the hotel aims to allow not only guests but also people from outside to enjoy special gems. In the future, concerts will also take place on the terrace. Hotel Elisabeth is een voormalig ziekenhuis dat dateert uit het interbellum. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog zorgde een V-bom voor een enorme ravage en lieten drie verpleegsters, drie patiënten en drie arbeiders het leven. Het Sint-Elisabethziekenhuis sloot op 14 december 2003 definitief zijn deuren en het gebouw, op de hoek van de Goswin de Stassart- en de Van Hoeystraat, bleef achter als een stille getuige. Na impactvolle werken gingen de deuren voor het eerst open in april 2014. "We zijn tot het uiterste gegaan om de ziel van het gebouw te vrijwaren. Het is dus een renovatie met respect voor de bestaande architectuur. Zo zijn de oude trappen en grote stukken van de gevelarchitectuur bewaard gebleven." Wie de Goswin de Stassartstraat te Mechelen komt ingereden, merkt al van ver de immense lichtcirkel op die gemonteerd aan de dakrand van het Hotel over de straat uittornt en het firmament beheerst. De 'Circle of Energy' is een kunstwerk van de Nederlandse kunstenaar Jan Van Munster dat daar werd geplaatst n.a.v. een Contour Kunstbiënnale. Hotel Elisabeth telt 62 stijlvolle kamers en er zijn 4 verschillende kamertypes: Classic Room/Deluxe room/Triple room en Executive room. Voor de inrichting van de kamers is bewust gebruik gemaakt van duurzame en warme materialen zoals o.a. planken/parketvloer. Er zijn ruime inloopdouches en alle kamers hebben ook een mooie en ruime lichtinval en zijn verder voorzien van alle comfort. De ontbijtzaal, waarvan de ramen over de hele breedte kunnen worden opengeschoven, grenst aan een prachtig olijfboomterras. Wie aan de overzijde van het terras de terrasbrede trappen opgaat, komt aan het in aanbouw zijnde zwembad en naastgelegen welness. Er is een grote meetingroom op het gelijkvloers en een rooftop-meetingroom met aangrenzend dakterras. Deze meetingroom verbluft iedereen met haar fenomenaal prachtig zicht over de oude stad. Hotel Elisabeth wil zich niet enkel onderscheiden door haar architectuur, maar zeker ook door haar merkbeleving en aanpak: een professionele service maar op een bijzonder klantvriendelijke en absoluut ongedwongen manier. Het is de reden waarom het aantal zakenmensen dat Hotel Elisabeth als zijn favoriete stek kiest, gestaag stijgt. "Alles gaat hier zo smoothly en er is plaats voor een glimlach en zelfrelativering, da's gewoon fijn." Daar is de positionering van dit hotel niet vreemd aan: de baseline die het logo vergezeld luidt: Life's short. Start smiling. Op diverse plaatsen in het hotel hangen dan ook quotes die dit onderschrijven en een glimlach opwekken. Het hotel schrikt er niet voor terug om zoals gezegd zichzelf te relativeren. In de lift, die behoorlijk traag gaat, hangt een kader waarop men leest: " We apologize for the speed. Next time we'll take the sports version." Onderschreven met het logo en de baseline. Maar er is meer waarmee Elisabeth zich wil onderscheiden. Onlangs organiseerde het hotel samen met Het Filmhuis van Mechelen een filmavond op het dakterras. Lost in translation. Het begin van een reeks activiteiten waarmee het hotel niet enkel gasten maar ook mensen van buitenaf wil laten genieten van bijzondere pareltjes. In de toekomst zullen op het terras ook concertjes plaatsvinden. Het management staat open voor goede ideeën.
