MICE Operations: software of the future

10 years ago, MICE Operations started as a planning system for event professionals, providing a solution to the problems planners encountered: unclear communication and administrative hassle. MICE has now grown into a total package of planning and sales tools for event locations and catering. They are one of the largest players in the Netherlands and active in eight different countries. This anniversary year they are going one step further: MICE is no longer just the software of today, but also of the future with the use of AI and revolutionary quotations.

“From the start, MICE's starting point has been that we want to make the lives of event planners easier and more fun, with the aim of more peace in the tent. This way, people in the industry can do what makes them happy: focus on their guests,” says general manager Dennis de Kort, who himself worked at various event locations for many years. “I know the frustration of working with Excel sheets and endlessly doing transfers. I thought: this must be possible more efficiently, right? I presented my idea to an old acquaintance with a successful software development company. And that was ten years ago now.”

The future of the event industry

That old acquaintance is Timo van der Zanden, who was so enthusiastic that he immediately joined and is now co-owner: “There is nothing more fun than developing something that really helps people. And it shows: our customers are happy and enthusiastic. We actively involve them in our developments, because we continue to work continuously to make MICE even better. And that means we look ahead: what will the software of the future look like? To do this, we naturally look at developments in the event industry and the future of software.”

“We continue to look at how we can make the work of event planners even more efficient and fun, so that turnover is also increased,” De Kort adds. That's why we're launching two new features in the coming months. With our new quotations you will blow every customer away: interactive quotations ensure that customers get a first impression online of the atmosphere and experience at the location itself. This new way of selling is guaranteed to ensure that your quote ends up at the top of the pile.”

“And without it costing the planner much effort,” says Van der Zanden. “This also applies to our other new feature: of course we use AI to make the event planner's work even easier. You can literally convert an email or note into a quote with one click. How simple do you want it? And there are even more developments with AI on the agenda.”

10 jaar geleden begon MICE Operations als een planningssysteem voor eventprofessionals en bracht daarmee de oplossing voor de problemen waar planners tegenaan liepen: onduidelijke communicatie en administratieve rompslomp. Inmiddels is MICE uitgegroeid naar een totaalpakket aan plannings- en salestools voor evenementenlocaties en horeca. Ze zijn een van de grootste spelers in Nederland en actief in acht verschillende landen. Dit jubileumjaar doen ze er nog een schepje bovenop: MICE is niet meer alleen de software van nu, maar ook van de toekomst met inzet van AI en revolutionaire offertes.

“Al vanaf het begin is het uitgangspunt van MICE dat we het leven van eventplanners makkelijker én leuker willen maken, met als doel meer rust in de tent. Zo kunnen de mensen in de branche doen waar ze blij van worden: focussen op hun gasten”, aldus algemeen directeur Dennis de Kort, die zelf jarenlang werkzaam was bij verschillende evenementenlocaties. “Ik ken de frustratie van het werken met Excel-sheets en het eindeloos bezig zijn met overdrachten. Ik dacht: dat moet toch efficiënter kunnen? Ik legde mijn idee neer bij een oude bekende met een goedlopend bedrijf in software ontwikkeling. En dat is inmiddels tien jaar geleden.”

De toekomst van de eventbranche

Die oude bekende is Timo van der Zanden, die zo enthousiast was dat hij direct instapte en nu dus mede-eigenaar is: “Niets leuker dan iets ontwikkelen dat écht mensen helpt. En dat blijkt ook: onze klanten zijn blij en enthousiast. We betrekken hen dan ook actief bij onze ontwikkelingen, want we blijven continu werken om MICE nog beter te maken. En dat betekent dat we vooruit kijken: hoe ziet de software van de toekomst eruit? Daarvoor kijken we natuurlijk naar de ontwikkelingen in de eventbranche én de toekomst van software.”

“We blijven kijken hoe we het werk van eventplanners nóg efficiënter en leuker kunnen maken, zodat ook de omzet verhoogd wordt”, vult De Kort aan. Daarom lanceren we de komende maanden twee nieuwe features. Met onze vernieuwde offertes blaas je iedere klant omver: interactieve offertes zorgen ervoor dat klanten online al een eerste indruk krijgen van de sfeer en beleving op de locatie zelf. Deze nieuwe manier van verkopen zorgt er gegarandeerd voor dat je offerte bovenop de stapel komt te liggen.”

“En dat zonder dat het de planner veel moeite kost”, aldus Van der Zanden. “Dat geldt ook voor onze andere nieuwe feature: natuurlijk zetten we AI in om het werk van de eventplanner nóg makkelijker te maken. Een e-mail of notitie zet je letterlijk met één klik om in een offerte. Hoe eenvoudig wil je het hebben? En zo staan er nog meer ontwikkelingen met AI op de agenda.”

Wie nu al enthousiast is over de nieuwe features moet nog éven geduld hebben: de komende weken worden de functies getest bij een aantal vaste klanten en vervolgens definitief uitgerold. Als eerste op de hoogte? Schrijf je in!
